Kitchen Units by Paul Whitworth
-------------------------------
Using IntroCad 2
----------------
Introduction
------------
This disk contains a number of files which when used with
IntroCad 2 can help you to design a kitchen.
These files were created to aid me to design a kitchen and I
hope you will find them useful.
I wish to thank TIM MOONEY for IntroCad 2 and AMIGA FORMAT issue 38
for releasing IntroCad on their great magazine.
How to get started
------------------
a) Measuring
NOTE:- all measurements are in centimetres
------------------------------------------
Your first task is to measure the kitchen you wish to design
their are three main measurements:-
1) Length 2)Height 3)Width
Then you will need to measure anything in that room
(ie Windows,Doors,Air vents) that may come in the way of your
units.

|<----------- Length ---------->| |<--- Width --->|

Door Width
If you plan on moving any doors or windows, Then put down
there new position.
b) Drawing basic layout
We will use a example kitchen :-
Length = 385cm
Height = 250cm
Width = 190cm
1) Load up IntroCad 2 (you should have a clear screen).
The ruler will show 0 -> 10 along the bottom and Grid = 1
you will need to expand this to the length of you kitchen
ie 385cm.
2) To expand the grid select "SLIDE".
Click on screen continuously until the grid is big enough
to fit your kitchen, ie 400 along bottom and 224 on the side
(it also helps to keep grid position 0,0 in bottom left).
3) Select "SNAP TO GRID".
Select "BOXES".
Draw rough size of kitchen using grid 0,0 as start point,
This is so you can measure your boxes as you go along
a, Draw plan view 384cm x 192cm (these are grid positions).
b, Draw front view 384cm x 256cm (on top of plan view).
c, Draw side view 192cm x 256cm (on top of other views).
4) Now you will need to make them the correct sizes,
Select "ZOOM" and zoom in on one of the points
ie Length = 384cm and we need to set this to 385cm
zoom in until you can see both measurements.
Click on "SIZE FREE" and move it to its correct size
Do this for all points (redraw on each move).

+---------------+---------------+ 385,190
| | |

| | |
+---------------+---------------+
0,0 190,0 385,0
5) You will need to expand outwards so you can position them
in there correct places ( I used First Angle Projection).

6) Save this as your Basic Layout.
c) Drawing doors and windows
1) Select "ZOOM" and zoom in on plan view, Keeping grid position
0,0 in bottom left hand corner.
2) Select "BOX" and draw rough size of object (ie door).
3) Now you will need to make it the right size, So select "ZOOM"
and zoom in on one of the points. Click on "SIZE FREE" and move
it to its correct size.
4) Once you have the object the right size you can move this to
its right position.
5) Repeat this for all objects in kitchen.
6) Save kitchen as a Basic Layout.
d) Designing kitchen layout
1) Select "ZOOM" and zoom in on plan view.
2) Select "Parts/Plan_View".
3) Select on Object (ie Plan-1000mm (1000mm Base unit + Wall)).
4) Place on screen and if you wish to move it to a side wall then
you will have to rotate it.
5) Repeat this until you are happy with you design.
6) Them place the units in the Front View & Side View from the
"Parts/Side_View_Base_Units" and "Parts/Side_View_Wall_Units".
e) How to Modify the kitchen Units
1) Select "OPEN" from the "PROJECT" menu and change the path to look
into the "PARTS" directory.
2) Select the unit you wish to modify.
3) Once you have modified the unit do not forget to save it.
but save it from the "SAVE" in the "PROJECT" menu not the parts menu,
(This will not put the .cad extension on the end).
